Ingredients

  • Eggs
  • Pad of butter
  • Seasonings (get creative):
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Red pepper flakes
    • Garlic powder
    • Paprika
  • Water (for steaming)
  • Optional cheese toppings:
    • Parmesan (best option)
    • Cheddar
    • Any sharp or salty cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat pan to medium (4-6 setting).
  2. Add a pad of butter and let it melt.
  3. For easy shell removal: Wet your finger slightly before grabbing shell pieces. The shell will stick to your finger rather than being frustrating to catch.
  4. Carefully crack eggs onto the hot buttered pan.
  5. Season eggs with your preferred spices.
  6. Cook for about 5-6 minutes for perfect doneness.
  7. Optional cheese method:
    • Place shredded or sliced cheese directly on the pan.
    • Let it melt and get crispy (2-3 minutes).
    • Crack eggs on top of the cheese and let cook.

Expert Tips

    • Flipping eggs can be challenging! If you prefer to avoid flipping altogether, you can add a splash of water to the pan and cover it to steam the top of the eggs.
    • The wet finger trick for shell removal is a game-changer – not too wet, just enough to make the shell stick.
    • Parmesan cheese creates the most delicious crispy bottom layer, but any sharp or salty cheese works well.
    • For extra flavor, place cheese down first, then the egg on top for a crispy cheese bottom.
